Dear friends,

The City of Jemison is rapidly becoming the “Community of Choice” for many Alabamians. From its founding in 1898 as a rail station and a bird sanctuary, Jemison has evolved into a progressive and well planned community. Jemison is located centrally in Alabama between Montgomery and Birmingham on the sought after I-65 and U.S. Highway 31 corridor and offers a unique opportunity for residential and commercial growth while continuing to maintain its small city character and high quality of living.

The formation of The City of Jemison Planning Commission in 2005 has brought about well planned development, managed growth, and the implementation of the City of Jemison Comprehensive Plan. I am proud to work with the members of this planning commission that have a wonderful vision for the future of Jemison.

The Jemison City Council has been wonderful to work with and also has a great vision for the City of Jemison. A vision of well managed growth and new opportunities for our city while marinating its character and charm. Our greatest asset is our people that have worked hard to move Jemison in a positive way. The Jemison City Council and I are willing to work with and residential, commercial, or industrial development to achieve our goal of well managed growth.

A recent improvement in our Waste Water Treatment Plant is making it possible to maintain an excellent level of service to our current customers while planning for future development. We have made excellent progress in our public safety department by improving equipment and training for our police, whom maintain a low rate of crime, providing new fire engines and developing plans for a new fire and rescue station, and providing new rescue equipment and training to our rescue personnel to better perform their daily tasks of helping and protecting our citizens. The have lived up to their creed of service with “Professionalism, Pride, and Progress.”

Jemison offers excellent educational opportunities for our children. We have three excellent public schools in our community as well as private schooling. Our schools are continually growing with the growth of Chilton County and are expanding to meet those needs. Just this year the Chilton County Board of Education has purchased land for a future new high school and is in the design stages of a new intermediate school to be built in Jemison. Our elementary, middle and high schools maintain a high level of learning and provide an excellent curriculum as well as extra curricular activities. We love our Jemison Panthers and show our Panther Pride throughout the year.

Jemison is “Moving on up” and we invite you to consider making Jemison your home.

God Bless,

Mayor Eddie Reed
